Safe Catch introduces mercury-tested Wild Tuna Burgers
Product launches nationwide at Sam’s Club.

Safe Catch is expanding in the frozen aisle with the launch of Wild Tuna Burgers, debuting nationwide at Sam’s Club beginning April 5. The new product follows the company’s entry into frozen seafood earlier this year and introduces a high-protein seafood option positioned within the broader frozen burger and protein category.
Safe Catch has built its reputation on rigorous seafood testing standards and a commitment to transparency. Every tuna used in its products is individually tested for mercury, helping ensure consumers receive clean, high-quality seafood that meets strict safety standards.
With the launch of Tuna Burgers, Safe Catch is bringing that same approach into a familiar meal format.
“Our mission has always been to make seafood the healthiest protein on the planet,” said Sean Wittenberg, CEO and Co-Founder of Safe Catch. “With Tuna Burgers, we’re introducing a new way for consumers to enjoy seafood in everyday meals while maintaining the same testing, sourcing, and ingredient standards that define our brand.”
Each 4-ounce tuna burger contains 33 grams of protein, delivering 70% more protein than a traditional 80% lean beef burger, along with 68% less fat and 30% fewer calories.
The burgers are made with wild-caught skipjack, ahi yellowfin, and bigeye tuna, combined with simple ingredients including avocado oil, spices, apple cider vinegar, and beetroot powder for natural color. The product contains no seed oils, no added sugar, and no artificial ingredients.
Like all Safe Catch tuna products, the tuna used in the burgers is individually mercury tested. Safe Cath Wild Tuna Burgers are tested to a strict limit of 0.15 ppm, which is 6.5 times stricter than the FDA action limit.
In addition to its nutritional profile, the tuna burger also offers a significantly lower environmental footprint. Compared to traditional beef burgers, tuna burgers produce more than 10 times lower carbon emissions, offering retailers a protein option aligned with growing consumer interest in sustainability. The brand is also Plastic Neutral through its partnership with rePurpose Global, funding the recovery of as much plastic waste as it uses in its packaging footprint. And is the official seafood partner of the American Pregnancy Association.
Safe Catch Tuna Burgers bring a seafood alternative to a category historically dominated by beef while aligning with consumer demand for high-protein, clean-label foods.
Frozen seafood continues to see strong category growth, and the demand for premium, clean-label seafood products is rising. Safe Catch Tuna Burgers allow retailers to diversify frozen protein offerings while introducing seafood into everyday meal occasions such as grilling, burger nights, and convenient weeknight meals.
Safe Catch Wild Tuna Burgers are available at Sam’s Club locations nationwide beginning April 5.
Each package contains six frozen 4-ounce patties that can be cooked directly from frozen on the grill, stovetop, or in the oven and will retail for approximately $13.98 per six-pack.
