The Niche Meat Processor Assistance Network is offering a free webinar entitled “Waste Management at the Processing Plant.” The webinar is scheduled for March 30, 2016 at 1PM Eastern and will last 1 hour.

Managing, treating and removing solid waste and wastewater often comes at a significant cost for small-scale meat processing facilities. For those new to meat processing, or those looking for new ideas for their plant, this webinar will provide a general overview on waste management for both solid waste and wastewater. The speakers will discuss wastewater management, basic systems and pre-treatment options, and regulations. They will also cover solid waste streams (things like manure, bones, trim, etc.) and solutions for dealing with those various waste streams.

The speakers will be Thomas M. Bass of Montana State University Extension, Jean Bonhotal of Cornell Waste Management Institute and Brian H. Kiepper of University of Georgia.
