Greater Omaha Packing earns Environmental Achievement Award for water conservation and wastewater management
Meat Institute honors Greater Omaha Packing Co. for responsible water management.

Beef processor and distributor Greater Omaha Packing Co. earned an Environmental Achievement Award for innovative leadership and progress in water conservation and wastewater management from the Meat Institute, the nation’s largest trade association representing packers and processors of meat and poultry.
“Congratulations to Greater Omaha Packing Co. for going above and beyond to ensure their products contribute to a sustainable food system,” said Julie Anna Potts, president and CEO of the Meat Institute. “Their hard work and innovation will ensure the meat and poultry industry continues to employ the highest standards and latest technology to produce wholesome, safe, nutritious products that consumers can be proud to put on their plates.”
“It is an honor to accept this award from the Meat Institute,” said Henry Davis, CEO at Greater Omaha Packing Co. and Meat Industry Hall of Fame Class of 2025 inductee. “We have invested significant time and resources into advancing responsible water management and environmental stewardship within our operations. Projects like this reflect our long-term commitment to improving efficiency, protecting natural resources, and strengthening the communities where we operate.”
Through investment in wastewater treatment infrastructure and process improvements, Greater Omaha Packing has enhanced its ability to manage water responsibly while supporting safe and efficient beef production.
The awards were presented at the Environment, Labor and Safety+ Conference.
