Colorado Premium, a Greeley, Colo.-based meat processing company serving retailers, restaurant chains, and private labels around the globe, has just completed a $2 million expansion of its facility in the Stockyard area of Denver. The project added and reconfigured 25,000 square feet of space to create processing areas for fresh ground beef, hand-cut steaks and marinated meats. Another 75,000 square feet of cold storage was also incorporated into the site as Colorado Premium Cold Storage.

Colorado Premium currently employs 250 workers in its Greeley plant and 180 more in Denver. The company expects to add 100 more employees in Denver over the next two years.

"Despite the tough business climate of the past few years, we maintained our focus on creating new custom product lines and developing new delivery channels," said President Kevin LaFleur. "We pride ourselves on being a customer solutions-driven company, and we applied that same solutions-driven philosophy to our own business model. We reinvested in our infrastructure and created an economic development partnership with the city of Denver to support future job growth at the Denver plant.

The result culminated in more than 200 new jobs being created in both our Denver and Greeley plants in the past two years, with more new jobs on the way," LaFleur said. 

Founded in 1998 by former Con-Agra/Monfort executives Don Babcock and Kevin LaFleur, the company today produces more than 100 million pounds of beef and other protein products annually. In addition to their Greeley and Denver facilities it also has a sales and marketing office in Wichita, Kan. Employing state-of-the-art food safety interventions, both of Colorado Premium's plants are HACCP integrated and BRC compliant. 

Packaging more than 50 brands of private-label meats and restaurant-ready entrees, Colorado Premium serves the nation's largest restaurant, retail and industrial channels. Internationally, Colorado Premium is Halal approved and supplies customers in Central America, the Caribbean, the Philippines, Taiwan, UAE and more.
