Omaha Steaks launches Ultimate Burger Facebook app

News Brief Feature
January 12, 2012

Omaha Steaks announced the launch of the Omaha Steaks Ultimate Burger Experience – a Facebook application that invites users to craft a virtual burger and donate the experience to benefit one of four charities, selected in an earlier poll of Omaha Steaks Facebook fans. The charities involved include: charity: water, Disabled American Veterans, National Multiple Sclerosis Society and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The Omaha Steaks Ultimate Burger Experience will be available on the Omaha Steaks Facebook page at: Facebook.com/OmahaSteaks through February 29th, 2012. Users can select from a list of more than 50 ingredients to build an ultimate burger and can preference which charity it should be donated to upon completion. Participants can also increase the number of votes for their chosen charity by encouraging friends and family to vote for their ultimate burger creation.

Omaha Steaks will donate a minimum of $5,000 to each of the four charitable organizations and the organization receiving the most virtual burger votes will receive a $25,000 donation. Additionally, the company announced that if the number of Omaha Steaks Facebook fans reaches 225,000 before the end of the promotion, a $25,000 donation will be given to all four participating charities.

Features of the Omaha Steaks Ultimate Burger Experience app include:

  • A listing of more than 50 ingredients for users to build their own custom Ultimate Burger Experience, including customizable side dishes, desserts and beverages.

  • A leader board showing the burgers that have received the most votes and which charities have had the most burgers created for their organization.

  • Option to request a digital copy of the top ten ranked burgers including ingredients and cooking instructions upon the conclusion of the promotion.

"Omaha Steaks has a long tradition of support for charitable organizations that help to enrich and improve the lives of others," said Senior Vice President and fifth-generation family owner Todd Simon . "The Ultimate Burger Experience Facebook application is simply a new way for us to connect with our family of customers, while offering them the opportunity to become actively involved in directing portions of our charitable giving."
