The Biden-Harris Administration is investing $9.6 million across the country and taking several other steps to help farmers, ranchers, processors and rural businesses diversify the nation’s meat supply.
The kitchen appliances that will be purchased include a commercial refrigerator/freezer, an industrial oven, an industrial utility sink, a commercial prep station and a grease trap.
Dr. William “Bill” Dozier intends for the funds to help strengthen recruiting efforts, allowing the poultry science department to interact with local high schools and community colleges.
The additional space will allow the Yadkin Family YMCA to expand youth programming and health interventions for community members with chronic conditions.
As the only full-service wellness facility in Yadkin and home to one of two public pools in the county, this expansion is needed to allow the Yadkin YMCA to continue offering quality programs.
Five grants awarded through the Rocky Mountain Rangelands Program will improve sagebrush rangelands, big game migration corridors, and mesic and wet meadow.
Six U.S. universities with poultry science departments and 22 other institutions with industry-related programs are receiving student recruiting grants.
The foundation provides annual recruiting and retention funds to colleges and universities to attract or connect students to their poultry programs or the industry.
